Hair loss prevention

Hair loss prevention:

Taking all the serious problems, caused by hair loss, into consideration, it has become necessary to apprise everyone with the precautionary measures that should be taken to prevent alopecia:
·         First and the foremost thing to do about hair loss prevention is to confirm from a doctor about your problem’s status. Sometimes people take normal hair breakage as something serious and start taking medication immediately. Assess yourself what kind of activity you are having with your hair. If you have been pulling them harshly for making some hair styles or have been applying some hair dyes to renew your hair, then you should expect your hair to fall at a much greater rate. Otherwise, 100 to 200 hairs fall on daily combing. It is normal!

      ·         Try not to use hair dryers, hair straighteners and other such heating tools more frequently on your hair. Their dry heat may result in the denaturing of the hair proteins and they ultimately cause your hair to fall. When using such devices, do take care of the way you use them against your hair. Don’t take them too close to your scalp, as it may damage the roots and even hair follicles and might affect your hair growth.
      ·         Also cut down the use of hair dyes and other chemicals for hair styling. Sometimes such products might give you some kind of allergy or infection that might serve as an initiative of alopecia.
      ·         Don’t go for tying up your hair too tightly that when you untie your hair, you have a bunch of hair in your hand. Making tight ponytails and braids on regular basis might accelerate your hair fall.
      ·         If you are already having the problem of alopecia, don’t go for hair cuts that might decrease your hair length further. Regularly trimming off the dead ends of your hair is fine, but step cuts and cuts having layers will make you lose more hair.
      ·         Try to wash your hair regularly with any good quality shampoo. This will help you keep dandruff away from your scalp, as dandruff is also one of the major causes of hair fall. Use mild shampoo and don’t go for overly fragrant or intense kind of shampoos.
      ·         Try using a brush having soft bristles. Avoid brushing immediately after a bath. This may break some of your hair, as the scalp skin is a bit softer after taking a bath and hair will be pulled out easily even by applying small outward force.
      ·         Don’t use towel harshly against wet hair. This action wipes out some of their surface protein coat and also pulls out some of your hair at the same time.
      ·         Make exercise a part of your daily routine. This makes circulation better and also helps to improve hormone levels inside the body somehow. Sleep well. Don’t over-stress yourself. Stress can have adverse effects on all the mechanisms of your body. So avoid it!
      ·         Try to keep your diet as balanced as you can. Take more fruits and vegetables and avoid having fattening and oily items. Take in vitamin B and C from natural sources as well as from supplements. Do incorporate zinc and iron-containing foods in your diet. Do not eat stuff like low-calorie food, raw egg whites, etc.
All the hair loss prevention strategies will turn out successful if taken during the early stage of your problem. Try to stop alopecia, before it gets worse.

      Alopecia universalis

      Alopecia universalis:

Among many types of alopecia (hair fall), the most alarming case is Alopecia universalis. It can be described as a severe form of Alopecia areata. This condition is characterized by complete hair loss not only from head, but from the entire body. Not even the eye brows and eye lashes are left behind. This case is seen rarely but is usually ascribed to the negligence of the victim himself.

        • Hair Surge contains 0.2% Ketoconazole.

          Causes of alopecia universalis:

All the factors causing Alopecia universalis are not exactly known, but the most probable cause is the autoimmune response of the body against certain environmental factors. Immune system is our body’s defense system against foreign unwanted agents that might have adverse effects on our bodies. When, due to some internal disturbance, our immune system starts attacking our own body cells, then such a response is dubbed as autoimmune. Similarly, when our defense mechanism starts destroying the hair follicles in the scalp, hair fall immediately starts. If the problem persists, the whole body might start losing hair gradually. Alopecia universalis can also be caused genetically in some cases when this disease has a family history.

          Chances of Alopecia universalis:

This weird case of hair loss is witnessed very rarely. Maybe that is the reason it has been least studied. About 1 in 100,000 people suffer from the disease. Although hair is completely lost, but chances of recovery are there, as hair follicles, though destroyed, cannot be termed as dead. If proper treatment is given, normal hair growth can be initiated within one year of diagnosis. Even without any kind of treatment, hair can re-grow but actual time for the commencement of re-growth cannot be predicted. It might take several years for the process to take place.

          Treatment of alopecia universalis:

Usually there is no formal treatment or sophisticated techniques employed to cure Alopecia universalis. Some cases have re-grown their hair by just waiting for the right time. Such patients did not take any medicines or treatment. Although their hair texture is much poorer, but at least they have gained back some of their precious hair like this. Some people also have taken medicines used for other purposes and have got back some of their hair, but it is strongly recommended that these irrelevant drugs should not be used unless prescribed by your doctor. Presently there are no medically approved medicines available for hair growth in the market. Hair transplant can be the biggest aid in this case. Immunotherapy and some recently developed cortisone tablets can also help to cure the ailment to some extent. Wigs can also be considered in this regard.
          Possible Side Effects:
As there are no proper medicines developed for Alopecia universalis, cortisone pills and immunotherapy can be given a try. But one should be completely aware of the side effects these medications have to offer before going for them practically. Cortisone pills and immunotherapy do help hair to re-grow but it does not end here. One has to keep having these treatments even after hair starts to grow. This might cause serious problems to the whole body in future. The effects of these medications are also not long-lasting.

          Alopecia Androgenica

          Alopecia Androgenica:

Hair fall has been a common problem for centuries. Nowadays it has come into spotlight because of the increasing awareness we are getting through various media. Alopecia androgenica is most commonly referred to as male-pattern baldness. Causes of alopecia androgenica :

Alopecia androgenica is basically attributed to two main factors; genetic and hormonal, each showing itself at different stages of life with slightly different symptoms. Besides these, there might also be some other factors found responsible for this kind of hair loss.
              ·         Genetically, this particular type of alopecia shows more effects in males. In humans, small portions of DNA called genes control hair growth all over the body. Sometimes new born might inherit some defected genes from their parents who have been suffering from alopecia. These defected genes have more tendencies to show up in males and hence more males are seen having clear heads with only a rim of hair or mere baldness. The defected genes cause hair follicles, which hold the hair roots, to shrink. Hair starts loosening and eventually falls off. In females, this disease has less strong base and does not show up that easily. Therefore, females suffer less frequently from such ailment.
              ·         On hormonal grounds, this disease is attributed to the changes that take place in hormones called androgens. Androgens are male hormones that play pivotal role in development of male copulatory organs as well as secondary sexual characters like growth of hair, coarseness of voice, etc. Sometimes, due to enzyme action, one of the male hormones called testosterone is changed structurally and affects hair growth particularly on scalp. This effect also increases the shrinkage of hair follicles and immediate loosening of hair from roots to tips.
              ·         Age, improper diet and some other related factors might also increase the chances for an individual to develop Alopecia androgenica as this also causes decrease in the androgens inside the body.

              Symptoms of alopecia androgenica:

All kinds of hair fall usually have similar type of symptoms. In Alopecia androgenica, men start losing their hair from the front and crown portions of the head. Often men have middle portions of head with absolutely no hair and sometimes severe conditions may lead to complete wiping out of hair from the scalp, leaving behind shiny smooth surface. In women, hair fall does not leave prominent marks. Therefore, thinning of hair can be regarded as a possible symptom. But for actual diagnosis, only visual symptoms might not be useful. More complex kind of diagnostic techniques, such as biopsy, should be employed for knowing the actual problem.

              Social and Mental effects:

Although hair loss is not considered to be a disease, but the person suffering from the problem faces many problems in daily life. As Alopecia androgenica is particularly related to men, so men are more affected by such loss both socially and mentally. Progressive loss of hair with time and change in the overall personality deeply influence the confidence of the victim. People start taking the person as an aged case, who is likely to lose hair, even if the person is only 30. One might feel isolated by such derogatory remarks and ill treatment received from others. Therefore, it is far better to take the problem into consideration at very early stage than to ignore it completely. If checked on time, this minor defect can be cured and one might return to the normal routine with a lavish and normal hair growth.
